Liquid Refractory Curing Compound: Questions Before Application
Check substrate, application method, drying time, and compatibility before using a liquid curing compound.

A liquid curing compound is a separate installation product, not a castable or mortar. Its purpose and application method must be defined for the refractory system being installed. A stated drying time alone does not establish when the lining can be heated or put into service.
Check the surface and method
Ask whether the compound is intended for freshly placed, partially cured, or dry material. Confirm surface preparation, application rate, number of coats, and whether spraying or brushing is permitted. Protect adjacent surfaces if the formulation could leave residue. The supplier should also state any incompatibility with the castable binder or subsequent coating.
Plan the full cure sequence
Record ambient conditions and the compound's published drying time, then follow the refractory product's own curing and dry-out procedure. Keep those stages distinct. A surface that feels dry may still contain moisture within a thick lining.
